Instructor's Corner-I want to congratulate all the competitors from the last few tournaments. Win or loose... it takes courage to perform in front of people you don’t know as well spar and knowing your opponent maybe trying to take your head off.
5-6 May- I competed in the MS150 fundraiser. My many thanks to those that donated and made it possible for me to participate.
Campout- For those that came, we had a great time on our club campout and picnic on June 18 &19. The fish didn’t bite nor did the skitters. I hope more come next year! Thanks to Morgan’s Martial Arts for cooking the wild bore.
7 Aug- The Kick-a-thon and demo was a success for the few that participated. The following are those that raised funds and kicked. They will be receiving a small trophy from me for their support.
Future Events- Grandmaster Pellegrini will be conducting his CHKD seminars in a few hours drive from Suffolk. One in High Pt. NC on 21 Aug. and 16 Oct. in Manassas. TKD students 12 and older may also participate in these too. The Colonial TKD Festival is 25 Sept. Train hard if you plan to compete....you can register on-line on our web site and save some bucks. See me before you register. The events are sparring, forms and breaking for the senior division. I will be attending the 11th Annual World Head of Family Sokeship Council Achievement Awards in Orlando, Fl over the Labor Day holiday and receive an Award submitted by GM Pellegrini. On 25 Sept., I will also be attending the 2004 Legends of Champion Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Baltimore. GM Spruiell, my judo & ju-jitsu instructor, has submitted me for an award in that council. AAU info for parents- As a student or parent, you may get more involved in TKD if you wish. The AAU has a coach's program which allows you to be on the competition floor at ring side during state and national tournaments. See their web site or me for info. |
